Sports Massage
Sports Massage. Reset. Recover. Perform
Many people come to us with tight muscles, recurring niggles, or discomfort that keeps coming back. It might be a shoulder that feels stiff after golf, tight calves from running, or tension from long days at a desk.
Our sports massage in Hartley Wintney are designed to relieve tension, improve movement, and help you feel more comfortable in your body again. If you are dealing with something more persistent, our physiotherapy team can help assess and treat the underlying cause.
Based in Hartley Wintney, Hampshire, we regularly support clients from Hook, Fleet, Basingstoke and surrounding areas. If you are searching for sports massage near you, we aim to provide a calm, supportive environment where you can feel listened to and looked after.
What to expect from your sports massage
At your first appointment, your therapist will take time to understand what’s been going on for you. This might be an injury, ongoing tension, or something that just doesn’t feel quite right.
You’ll be asked about your lifestyle, activity levels, and any areas of discomfort or tightness, so we can build a clear picture of what’s contributing to the issue.
Each session is tailored to you. Your therapist will explain what they’re doing, check you’re comfortable throughout, and adapt the treatment to suit your needs.
Most people leave feeling more relaxed, more mobile, and clearer on what their body needs moving forward.
Who sports massage can help
We understand how even small aches, tension, or recurring niggles can begin to affect your day to day life. Our approach is not just about working on the area that feels tight, but understanding what may be contributing to it.
Sports massage can be helpful if you:
- Feel tight or restricted during everyday movement
- Have recurring niggles that never fully go away
- Run, play golf, go to the gym, or stay active regularly
- Sit for long periods and notice tension building
- Want to prevent small issues becoming bigger problems
The many benefits of sports massage can include:
- Reduce muscular tension and soreness
- Improve circulation and blood flow
- Increase joint mobility and flexibility
- Support recovery from activity or injury
- Help prevent small issues becoming recurring problems
- Reduce stress and overall tension
- Support your body in feeling more balanced and comfortable
Many people come to us after trying to manage things themselves for a while. Stretching, resting, or adapting movement often helps short term, but the issue can return.
By taking a broader view of how your body is moving and adapting, we can help support longer term comfort, not just temporary relief.
Our therapists will always take the time to listen, explain what they are doing, and make sure you feel comfortable throughout.
If you’re looking for a gentler treatment to support swelling or recovery, lymphatic drainage massage may be a better fit.
Not sure whether you need sports massage or physiotherapy?
Many people contact us because they are unsure which treatment is the best fit for their situation.
Sports massage is often helpful for muscle tightness, recovery from exercise, recurring tension, and improving movement. It can be a great option if you’re feeling stiff, restricted, or looking to stay active and comfortable.
Physiotherapy may be more appropriate if you have a recent injury, persistent pain, recurring symptoms that keep returning, or a condition that needs a more detailed assessment and rehabilitation plan.
Because our team includes both sports massage therapists and physiotherapists, we can help guide you towards the treatment that best suits your needs.

FAQs
How does sports massage work?
Is sports massage only for athletes?
No. Despite the name, sports massage is not just for athletes or people who play sport regularly.
Many of our clients are busy professionals, parents, gardeners, golfers, dog walkers, gym goers, or people who simply want to feel more comfortable in their bodies. Sports massage can be beneficial for anyone experiencing muscle tension, stiffness, restricted movement, or recurring aches and pains.
Whether your discomfort comes from exercise, long hours at a desk, physical work, or everyday life, sports massage can help improve mobility, reduce tension, and support your overall wellbeing.
Treatment is always tailored to you. Some clients book to support training and recovery, while others simply want relief from the physical stresses and strains of daily life.
How do I know if I need a sports massage?
You don’t need to be an athlete or have a serious injury to benefit from sports massage. Many people book when they notice recurring tightness, stiffness, or discomfort that doesn’t seem to fully go away.
Sports massage may be helpful if you regularly experience tight muscles after exercise, feel restricted during everyday movement, spend long periods sitting at a desk, or find yourself dealing with the same niggles time and time again.
Often, people tell us they have simply got used to feeling tight or uncomfortable. Sports massage can help improve movement, reduce tension, and support your body before small issues begin to affect your daily activities, exercise, or overall wellbeing.
If you’re unsure whether sports massage or physiotherapy is the best option, our team will be happy to help guide you towards the most appropriate treatment.
Why choose us for your Sports Massage?
All our therapists are highly qualified, either with a degree in Physiotherapy or Sports Therapy, or a Level 5 Diploma in Sports Massage, the highest massage qualification available in the UK. So when we say you are in expert hands, we mean it! We listen carefully to your challenges and get to know you, and will then look to address the root of the issue to help you going forward.
Is sports massage painful?
Some areas may feel tender, especially if they are tight, but your therapist will always work within your comfort level and check in throughout.
How often should I have a sports massage?
How often you have a sports massage depends on your lifestyle and what you are experiencing. Some people come regularly, while others come as needed when something doesn’t feel quite right. We can help work out the best treatment plan for you.
